Interactive Experiment Technology

Sumner College of Health Sciences uses an innovative new Web technology to help students learn about the behavior and mechanism of systems in the body. This technology is called NumberLinX or NLX for short. NLX assists SCHS staff in constructing Web pages containing interactive models of these body systems. With the interactive model, the student can make a change in the model or applied external conditions and observe what happens to the body system. NLX technology thus makes possible laboratory-type experiments for the on-line student -- widely recognized as a powerful aid to learning. NLX technology can be applied to body systems that are understood well enough to be described by a mathematical or logical model. Typical examples range from biochemical reactions and ion transport in cells to the distribution of drugs in the body.
