Hello All Potential Students!
Thank you for attending the First Annual Celebrating Diversity Conference on this past Thursday, April 24th 2008. It was my pleasure, as well as the staff, to meet and interact with each of you.
- May 5, we
will be celebrating Cinco de Mayo. This holiday commemorates the victory of the Mexican militia over the French army at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. We will have lunch from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Dr. Ramon Gonzalez will provide information on why May 5, is celebrated. Please come by if you are in the neighborhood and would like to have lunch while we commemorate Cinco de Mayo with us. You are welcome to bring a dish of your choosing.
- June 19, Juneteenth World Wide Celebration. Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. From its Galveston, Texas origin in 1865, the observance of June 19th as the African American Emancipation Day has spread across the United States and beyond.
